this is the storyboard for our music video which all of my group contributed to in both drawing and the ideas. the opening shot is of a close up of an ipod selecting the song we have chosen (cries in vain by bullet for my valentine) and turning it on. this is a clever way of showing the song is starting and i have not seen it done often making it a fairly original idea which is important as while we want to stick closely to what is typical to the genre, we want to incorporate our own unique

we have decided to try and link what is happening on screen to the lyrics and this is shown in the next shot which takes place in a flashback. it starts as him and his ex walking down the street and as he lyrics and now your not there she disapear's through a method we havent yet decided on. it will be shown in black and white which is typical of many flashbacks in media. as the chorus begins to play we will stick to the typical 'metal video genre' by having the band for the majority of the chorus, with quick cuts and fast editing to each band member. we will also use a variety of camera angles for each band member such as high angle followed by close up to mid shots. our main focus is variety throughout the video.
during the following section where the pace slows and calms down we will have another black and white flashback of them both together happy. however as the pace returns to its quick pace we return to the present day which will be signified by a close up of his eyes in black and white (flashback) followed by them opening and returning to colour (present) as the pace quickens. he then sees her and the new boyfriend in a similar shot to the one he was in in the flashback, except now it is her with someone else. in a way we have yet to decide he begins drinking alcohol and heads home, high angle making him seem vulnerable.
as he arrives back in his room we will have the band playing on the tv which we will do by filming the band shots and ripping them to a dvd, which will be played on the tv in the background. after getting drunk he falls to sleep.
in the next slow part he is knocked to the ground by the new boyfriend and the camera slowly zooms into his face with low angle shots of the band inter cut throughout the zoom. we have also decided to follow the rule of thirds as much as possible especially in the close ups. eventually he gets up and with a look of determination he walks up behind them both and just as the music picks up pace he shoves over the new boyfriend and shouts at the girlfriend before running of as the new boyfriend gets up and chases him. we will then have a graphic match of the drum sticks hitting the snare drum and his feet hitting the ground as he runs.
all 3 characters then run into where the band has now appeared playing to a crowd which will be made up of all our friends and other volunteers. we will make sure they are or look like fans of the genre as that way it will fit in the code of clothing and appeal to the target audience who want to see an authentic crowd and band. we will film from inside the crowd to create the sense of energy and movement of the crowd. as the chorus begins the crowd shouts in unison at the new boyfriend who appears scared in a mid shot and runs out. after the chorus the girl tries to get the protagonist back, making her seem a more femme fatale of the story. however as the protagonist is now over her he rufuses with a smile and walks of into the crowd with the camera looking over his shoulder at his devestated ex who is left holding the rose we saw in earlier flashbacks. as the band finish the song the final shot returns to black and white, symbolising how she is just another memory. the rose then falls to the ground slightly slowed down and as her knees hit the ground the screen fades to black.
