http://this video is a good example by the band i am getting my song from as it is similar to mine in that it is set in a school and partly the narrative. the video starts by introducing the narrative setting in an establishing shot which pans down to the main character or the protagonist. as the drum comes in it has a quick cut to the band and this happens each time with different members and movements shown in both close ups and mid shots.as the pace slows so does the speed of the shots. i will include this as it is typical of all metal videos as the target audience expects a fast paced, lively, interesting video.i will also use a large variety of shots and angles as this will both improve my mark and fit in with the genres structuralism . this is also a good example of what the target audience (fans and primarily teens and those the same age as the band) expects from this type of genre and what is typical. this includes a pace that is the same as the songs speed, plenty of band shots and an interesting story they can relate to, something which this video as well as mine will use. this video also sticks to the code of clothing as all those who are fans or in the band are wearing the clothes typical to the genre of music. i will also closely stick to this as the target audience wants to see authentic 'true' fans and a genre they feel part of and can relate to. the mise en scene will also stick to this just as in this video for example metal posters on the inside of his locker identifies him easily as a fan. i will use band posters and shirts in my videoto also create an easily recognisable character. the story in this video is typical of most metal videos with the added twist. it focuses on a boy bullied because of his taste in music by the sterotypical jock characters being the antagonists. it follows these typical conventions up until the unexpected moment that the lyrics waking the demon come true literally when he turns into a werewolf. this gives him the power to beat and brutally end his torment, which all who have been bullied can relate to. as our narrative also features bullying as well as heart break we will also be able to relate to our audience who often know what these feelings are like.
